Over 80 Years of History

Origins

Cardiology Associates of New Brunswick was founded in 1938 by Dr. Norman Reitman.  The practice grew steadily over the years, eventually moved to East Brunswick and, in 2014, its physicians were integrated into Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health.  We still make informal use of our legacy name for clarity. The doctors of Heart Health Specialists of Edison, another practice with a long and distinguished history, joined Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health in 2016. The two groups of physicians work closely together.

A modern approach

We are now twelve physicians, four nurse practitioners and physician assistants and many wonderful and enthusiastic staff members. All of our physicians are board certified, many in several areas of cardiology, and many have received formal recognition from their peers for providing high quality care.

Our testing facilities are state of the art, have undergone rigorous evaluations by national accreditation societies and received numerous, prestigious certifications.

Our practice is a part of the RWJBarnabas Health System, the leading academic health system in New Jersey. This affiliation enables us to bring expertise and cutting edge technology in cardiology and other specialties to your care.

"I decided I wanted to be a doctor when I was ten years old."

Dr. Norman Reitman, who founded our practice in 1938, decided on his career path as a young child. The year was 1919, his brother was home with a high fever and cough, and his parents were scared. Their doctor made an evening house call and, with a few calming words, reassured his parents that all would be fine. In that brief moment, a very young Norman Reitman learned the power of compassionate medical care.
